Philadelphia Sisters, also know as Phillies, is an organization of brotherly love. The word Philadelphia originates from "philos', which is the Greek word for love, and "adelphos", which is the Greek word for brother.
The ultimate purpose of Philadelphia Sisters is to glorify the name and gospel of Jesus Christ. As a Texas A&M University organization, Philadelphia Sisters exists to form a Christian sisterhood that promotes and furthers God’s global glorification through specific service projects, accountability groups, and meetings.
"For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. "
2 Peter 1:5-8
With the Bible as its canon and guide, Philadelphia Sisters shall engage its members in activities that promote their growth as disciples of Jesus Christ and to encourage them to apply the lessons attained through such involvement to selflessly serve both the local and global community. To aid its members in accomplishing these goals, Philadelphia Sisters will establish fellowship and accountability through activities designed to strengthen, encourage and challenge its members and equip them to serve. These activities will be built on a foundation of prayer, driven towards service, and centered on the elevation of the Word of God. Fellowship will emphasize discipleship so that the organization will equip its membership to answer God’s calling to be sanctified and to be His witnesses on the campuses of A&M and Blinn, in the Bryan/College Station community, in the state of Texas, and to the ends of the earth.
Within Phillies all members are assigned to small groups of 4-6 girls called Kardias. Kardia groups support the pillar of accountability within Philadelphia Sisters, as kardia is the Greek word for heart.
Members must meet a certain number of service hours each semester. This is to encourage members to adopt a schedule of regular service and to further the Gospel and love of Christ. Each winter we also organize an optional mission trip for girls to fund-raise and go on if they choose.
Each week members are required to attend a bible study with a group of their choosing. This promotes members to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and in the word.
